Dalai Lama receives 2012 Templeton Prize, gives away $1.7 million award

The Dalai Lama received the 2012 Templeton Prize for his work linking science and wider questions of faith and religion. The Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader was given the prize, which comes with $1.7 million, today at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Most of the money from the award will be given to Save the Children, and the rest to two charities which provide research and education in science and Buddhism.

But this does not imply that yogis should be celibate; on the contrary, many great yogis have been householders with families. Without experiencing human love and happinesss, it is not possible to experience divine love. Brahmacharya also means one who sees divinity in all. BRAHMACHARYA PRTISHTHYAM VIRY LABHAH.Upon being established in brahmacharya, there is the attainment of vital energy.

In this sense, the solid and the space, the sound and the silence, the existent and the nonexistent, the figure and the ground are inseparable, interdependent, or “mutually arising,” and it is only by maya or conventional division that they may be considered apart from one another.”
